Dear Santa,
A few years ago, my best friend's mother passed away. Her mother, German born, was a beautifully strong and independent woman. We found out she had cancer in October and she finished her round of therapy in December. In February, her right arm began to go numb. She spent a little more time in the hospital prior to coming home. At 21 years old, my friend had to make hospice decisions by herself. I tried to be there as much as possible, but with two little ones in the middle of a pending divorce, it was a very difficult time for everyone.
On her mother's birthday in April, she asked God to heal her or take her. I suppose an ultamatum was not the way to go. This wonderful second mother to me passed away in her sleep right after blowing out her candles. I left work as soon as I got the call.
I inherited quite a bit of her personal belongings. I love to reminisce with them. If you put her handmade sweaters, circa 1980, up to your nose you can still smell her perfume. I miss her very much. I miss sneaking her soda with so much carbonation that her bag would blow up and my friend would scold us. I just never could say no.
After my father passed last year, I wanted to repay her. I found out she had been having hard times and really needed a car to keep her job. Turns out after Mom passed, she had a hard time keeping up with responsibilities and she began to lose everything. We bought a car in Motor City and soon learned it was a big fat lemon. Weather pending,it may or may not start for her to get to work. Always appreciative of the gift, she makes jokes to mask her fear of the inevitable. Neither of us has the credit to fix this situation.
Santa, please help her find a means to replace her car. I would really be grateful to you.
