On January 16th 2007, my family and I were in the Castle west fire and we lost everything, including 3 cats that belonged to the handicapped person we stayed with. We were very fortunate to make it out and very thankful that my grand baby was not in the apartment at all on the night of the fire.
She was 7 months old at the time. We have since found another place to stay and have replaced some of the items that were lost in the fire, some things can never be replaced such as all of my childrens pictures.
Now Christmas is just right around the corner, and because of that fire and losing everything, we have no Christmas tree, lights, ornaments, nothing to put up, to try and make it look a little bit like Christmas in our new apartment, therefore my grand daughter who is now 17 months old, or any of us will not be able to enjoy the Christmas feeling that others will.
No presents can be bought, because, what money we did receive from the fire went towards renting this apartment, buying furniture and clothes to replace what we had lost.
It's not easy trying to pick up and move on after such a terrible tragedy, nor do you forget watching everything you own go up in flames in just a matter of time, nor do you forget watching everyone flee for their lives knowing that they too are losing everything as well.
I do hope that everyone who reads this has a very Merry Christmas and please always love and cherish everyone around you, because you never know what may happen in the blink of an eye. If anyone would like to comment on this story please feel free to do so or you may email me at:

I would truly like to thank the very generous person who gave us a Christmas tree, with lights, and ornaments, we put it up and it is so beautiful, i was in such hopes of my grand daughter having a good Christmas this year, but every where I have tried to get toys and things she needs are no longer taking names, but I tried,
