Haley Smith, the Student Body Vice President for TCA and I made a promise during our campaign last spring to buy a mascot for our school. A plight which no Student Body President had yet been able to achieve for a myriad of reasons. After the election, Haley, along with the high school student council and I conducted a survey of the student body to find out what a "Titan" was to them. The majority of students wanted "Bison the Titan". However, the administration frowned on this proposition. Another popular response was something along the lines of a super hero, with Greek and Roman bent to it, but not too much like Doherty's or Salida's Spartans. After a meeting with our principal, Mr. Hilts, Haley and I decide we wanted to base our new mascot off of the 1963 marvel comic strip character "Thor" but with a sword in lieu of his traditional hammer. With that in mind, being a very talented artist herself, Haley drew a picture of the desired mascot. After a few weeks we decided on what the final mascot would look like, and how much it would cost. I sent this image to Facemakers, Inc. Then after several months of waiting we finally received the costume, however, there was on slight problem. They had somehow managed to mix up bright cherry red with navy blue. Instead of a crimson and navy mascot we were given one that was crimson and fire truck red. After another month or so of waiting, we finally got the correctcostume back. I am very proud to say that this mascot looks professional and we hope that the student body will appreciate it, despite the long wait.
