A group of Colorado Springs Brownies has answered the call to make comfort kits for the victims of the recent Ordway fires.
The April fire burned 8,900 acres in Crowley County and damaged or destroyed 24 structures.
Brownie Troop 044 made kits with basic hygiene items for the families displaced by the fires. The girls completed seven kits with shampoo, soap, toothbrushes and toothpaste, wash cloths and even some stuffed animals for the children.
Earlier in the year the girls visited and collected coats for a local homeless shelter. They have gained a real knowledge of the need of many in our community.
Girl Scouts throughout the state have been asked to put together care kits for the victims of the Ordway fires. A troop in the Conejos County area put together 20 kits and several Pueblo area troops have delivered kits. Colorado Girl Scouts are stepping forward in a big way for this effort and are learning how it feels to help your neighbors while youmake the world a better place.
