With your help, John Edwards won't be the only public figure to get a $400 haircut.
The members of Black Forest Fire/Rescue are helping the St. Baldrick's Foundation raise funds for childhood cancer research. If we raise $200 or more by April 1, seven of us will bravely shave our heads on April 4. If we raise $400 or more, Fire Chief Dave Ury will go bald too!
And the fun doesn't stop there. Other members have committed to lose long hair or eyebrows for higher donations.
In the US, more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. They often lose their hair during medical treatment. At a St. Baldrick's event, volunteers shave their heads in solidarity with these brave kids, in return for donations to fund childhood cancer research.
In eight years, St. Baldrick's events have taken place in 18 countries and 46 US states, raising over $34 million, and shaving more than 46,000 heads.
