Contributed by: A Music Company Inc. on 7/20/2008

What:

As one of the handful of women blues guitarists on today's music scene, Carolyn Wonderland is a triple threat with her diverse songwriting, soulful vocals, and guitar goddess status.

Carolyn brings her exciting show to the Thirsty Parrot, 32 S. Tejon St., Colorado Springs on Thursday Aug 7, 2008. Show time is 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online at www.amusiccompanyinc.com or at the Thirsty Parrot. Prices are $13 in advance, $18 the day of the show and a limited number of VIP tickets are available for $30 and include reserved seating.

Originally from Houston, a city where she has won awards in The Houston Press for everything from Best Guitarist, Vocalist, Songwriter, Blues, to Release of the Year and Musician of the Year virtually sweeping the awards for 5 years from the time she was a teenager. Ms. Wonderland now resides in Austin, Texas. Years of touring are evident in both the maturity of the songs and the tightness of her band.

Her most recent CD, Miss Understood, was produced by nine-time Grammy winner Ray Benson of the band Asleep At The Wheel. Recorded in Austin, the album features 6 new songs from Carolyn, as well as choice selections from Bruce Robison, JJ Cale, Terri Hendrix & Rick Derringer. Guest musicians include Jamie Oldaker, Lloyd Maines, Ray Benson, and many other Austin greats.

Wonderland's songs have been featured on network dramas including NBC's "homicide" and Fox's "Time Of Your Life." Also, Carolyn has been selected to perform for her hometown's most famous musical export, Austin City Limits (to be broadcast in the fall of 2008 on PBS Television).

Amy Whitesell of A Music Company Inc., promoter of the show explains "I saw Carolyn last year at a blues festival and was so impressed that I knew I wanted to bring her to Colorado Springs the next time she was in the state." "Her performance can best be described as jaw dropping good."
