Blog Entry 26 of 38 Forest Creatures
Let me introduce you to our cast of characters. My husband "Pops" and I are both over 50, fairly educated and we live on five plus acres between Black Forest and Peyton with 4 Akitas and a truly imperfect cat, named of course, Purrfect. I grew up in Colorado, he's from Chicago. We love the Broncos and the Bears, music, television and technology. Some people lead fairly quiet lives. Our lives are usually filled with constant misadventure. I am not sure if it is because we have several dominant pets or because my husband is always misbehaving but whatever the reasons we are usually in the middle of a storm. This blog will chronicle our adventures when I have time to file them. Sometimes I will be asking advice, sometimes I will just try to make users laugh.

March Madness

So every year at this time my husband 'Pops' gets into the spirit of NCAA basketball with a vengeance. He played pro basketball for a moment in the seventies and coaches several basketball teams, so you can imagine the hoopla at our house this month.
Lots of TV, food and couple that with St. Patrick's Day being in the mix, and of course, several parties have ensued.
I have gone on so much about the dogs in this blog that I have really never explained how much of a character my husband really can be. He loves people and his personality is about as outgoing as you get. His huge laugh is legendary amoung those of us who know him. The moment he meets someone he makes a friend and years later he remembers them. A trait I have never figured out.
I have posted a photo of 'Pops' in all his St. Patrick's Day regalia and some of the doggies that were taken during the party. Roshi, our puppy was not too thrilled with the noise and people coming and going, but the older dogs are used to a lot of commotion, Roshi as you can tell by the barking picture is not.
As this weekend approaches and the Final 4 gets underway, I am sure the festivities will continue.

We have also had wandering animal problems in the past week. The biggest surprise wasthree bulls that apparently wandered off from our neighbors' field and found their way to our neck of the woods. Talk about barking dogs! Unfortunately I was too busy running around trying to calm down the dogs and get the garage door closed to think about taking a photo.
Then the very next day we had a dusting of snow andtwo large Chows kind of ambling through the neighborhood. Once again the dogs really did not appreciate the visitors.
To add to the mix Roshi has discovered the voles that tunnel their way throughout our part of the county. He is already very good at killing the poor things and then 'playing' with his trophies. We've had to take several away from him fearing infection or a dog fight over the carcass. Pretty disgusting, pretty dog-like. I am always upset when my child substitutes act like dogs.
