Blog Entry 24 of 40 Forest Creatures
Let me introduce you to our cast of characters. My husband "Pops" and I are both over 50, fairly educated and we live on five plus acres between Black Forest and Peyton with 4 Akitas and a truly imperfect cat, named of course, Purrfect. I grew up in Colorado, he's from Chicago. We love the Broncos and the Bears, music, television and technology. Some people lead fairly quiet lives. Our lives are usually filled with constant misadventure. I am not sure if it is because we have several dominant pets or because my husband is always misbehaving but whatever the reasons we are usually in the middle of a storm. This blog will chronicle our adventures when I have time to file them. Sometimes I will be asking advice, sometimes I will just try to make users laugh.

Cat tale

Things have been, dare I say it, QUIET, at our house. Even the most lively lifestyles have their dull days. We cherish dull. The dogs are all staying in the yard. The weather is fairly warm, so there's been a lull in our adventures.
Oh sure, I have had a few small mishaps but for the most part, things are fairly uneventful. I am sure it won't last long.
Thought I would include a picture of the doggies paying attention to me. Of course I had a container full of treats in my hands so that explains the concentration.

Well, I spoke too soon. We had a wild night last night. About 2 a.m. our cat Purrfect must have been eating the puppy's food in the kitchen. Purrfect is nocturnal like most kitties and sometimes eats the dogs' food when they leave anything in the bowl. Of course the sleeping dogs heard him. We awoke to the screeching sound Purrfect makes when threatened, running dogs and a barking Kuma, woofing in the background. Cornered in the laundryroom by Roshi and Beauty, Purrfect swelled up to gigantic proportions and hissed and stood his ground. By the time my husband got there to rescue him, Purrfect was the aggressor. He jumped up on the dryer, then flew onto Beauty's back and sunk in his claws. He also tried to bite her. This cat knows no fear.
Roshi took one look at the flying cat and ran for his life, slipping and flipping away. Once we got Purrfect off her back, Beauty also fled the scene. Sable and Kuma, being older and wiser, did not really get into the line of fire.
Purrfect was not a happy kitty and was still hissing almost a half hour later. It took us forever to get the menagerie settled down.
First thing the next morning Purrfect stalked through the kitchen while the dogs were eating, so obviously he is still unfazed by the canine threat. The dogs gave him a look but that was all.
So the relative quiet didn't last. I was exhausted the next morning. And I am not surprised in the least that the peace did not last.
