Many, many years' ago, the holiday decorating was more of a competition between myself and a high school buddy whose family lives next door. As we got older (not to be confused with getting more mature!), the competition sort of went away and we found ourselves saying we did this stuff because of how excited people would get when they saw our display, especially the children. This is the number one reason why we force ourselves to get out and work on the displays in the snow, wind and freezing temperatures every year...
The majority of the display is the same each year because of the time it takes to re-balance all the circuit breakers. Every plug, both ends of every extension cord and every strand of lights has instructions on where they go to help make this process as easy and the least confusing as possible. We do give our neighbors and the return viewers a challenge each year by adding something new but it can't be something that sucks up another 20 amps!
Happy Holidays!
