Holiday Lights One
Contributed by: Holiday Lights   on 12/7/2007

After my husband decorated the outside of our house with all the beautiful icicle lights we put out every year, I asked him to add one final, simple touch this year. I requested that he place three, simple, undecorated wreaths over our garage. The simplicity and beauty of these three, circular wreaths is almost more beautiful than the hundreds of lights that surround them. And somehow, this decoration element, though truly simple, feels to me like the the most beautiful part of our brightly decorated house. And seeing those three wreaths reminds me to never forget the simplest and pure moments of this holiday.

The simple, beautiful circle once again touches me deeply, and what a wonderful time of year for the circle's magic to be shared with all those who pass our home.

Hi, Andrew. Thanks for your comments. Our lights just pale in comparison to the other entries. When I took a photo of the whole house, the three, plain wreaths nearly vanished. The point of my submission is that a house can be beautifully decorated without hundreds or thousands of lights. When you drive by our home, your eye is drawn to those three wreaths. It's amazing. So that's why I chose a picture that hightlighted them. I don't really expect to win this contest for hanging up three wreaths, but I wanted my house in the competition for the sheer contrast to prove that sometimes less is more. I am the lover of the circle, so it means even more to me. It's good to see our simple house amongst the amazing homes whose owners obviously spent hours and hours covering their houses with so many lights and decorations. Kudos to them. I bet their homes are spectacular to see in person.

Dianne, I'm sure this picture doesn't do your home justice. Can you get a shot of the whole home? Would love to see the wreaths in their context. You mention hundreds of lights that surround the wreaths. That's what we're looking for here. Lights and lots of 'em. Thanks, Andrew
